Stargazer-Wilson
welcomes you
Childhood is the 1st age of exploration and discovery. Stargazer Wilson was fascinated with the Heavens from an early age. One of his earliest memories is being five years old, waking in the early morning, and while lying in bed, he would watch the sun rise and study the relationship between the time displayed on his bedside clock with the sun’s changing position as measured against a distant tree’s foliage. As the summer days unfolded, he would record the changes in the sun’s relative position with the passing days. As a teenager, he would set his camera on a tripod and leave the shutter open to capture star trails - wishing he had a telescope mount that could track the stars as points of light.
Stargazer wants to encourage all with a love of learning to explore the night sky as best as they can. Through his artworks and public lectures, Stargazer has encouraged many to pick up their binoculars at night and point them at the sky to find the details of the moon and planets are well within their reach. Any purchases that you make through this website will further help Stargazer’s mission to bring a better understanding of the night sky to those who are curious about the Universe around us.
Later in life, he finally obtained that much desired telescope mount and finally was able to photograph stars as points of light and not just as star trails. Stargazer primarily works with digital media and gouache to create his art. The themes he draws upon range from the stars themselves to space exploration and explorers. Some of his limited edition works are derivatives of NASA photographs which he builds upon. All of his stellar works are from his personal observatories in the United States and Chile. He firmly believes that while childhood may be the 1st age of discovery, it is only one of many in life where exploration and growth occur.
